Deeno's Dream Journeys


What inspired me to write the book:

I really enjoyed my training as a school teacher and years working with children. It's very special to see that light bulb moment when children learn in a classroom. I believe that learning and being stretched appropriately is what makes us tick and feel alive and happy. It's also shown me that even at this young age, children and adolescents can be seriously affected by stress. According to the World Health Organization, by 2020, depression will be the second most debilitating mental health disorder in the world - including for children and youngsters. That's challenged me to do further research and training on the topic of stress and youngsters. It's also inspired me to publish Deeno's Dream Journeys in the Big Blue Bubble. It is an ideal tool for helping children learn to manage strong emotions in a fun and imaginative way.

About the book

"Deeno's Dream Journeys in the Big Blue Bubble is a fun and imaginative guide to a special relaxation technique for children." 

Each week, a beautifully illustrated story about the adventures of Deeno the Dinosaur draws the child into a safe and magical world, and teaches them a new set of 'magic words.' It's a relaxation technique based upon the classic system of Autogenics. In times of stress, they can draw upon it again and again. The child is encouraged to tap into his or her imagination as the magic words guide their bodies and minds into a deep, calming relaxation. Positive affirmations, guided imagery and suggestions for creative follow-up activities accompany each story, and help build the child's self-esteem and self- awareness. A separate section for parents, carers and teachers is also included. It includes advice on finding a special place for relaxation, keeping children motivated, and using the technique in classroom settings.
